extra windows and coffee bags.

turns out i have an extra window pane that came with our house and leftover coffee bag material from my pillows.

all thats missing is a staple gun…which i have.

this was the product of three. and i am really excited about it.

i am officially out of window panes. but this isn’t the end of the coffee bags. i have 2 left. so just you wait for more coffee bag projects.

jessmo art.

I DID NOT MAKE THIS.

iknow who made it though.

her name is jessica, she is my sister in law and she has recently started a blog that shows all of her art.

she takes old wood or windows and turns them into awesome.

that’s right…awesome.

i am making this one short because i want you to use the time you would be reading my blog and go to hers and peruse….maybe even buy something.

this is the world wide web address for you:

dinner for four.

a household item we cannot keep clean are our tablecloths.

and i am not a stain master like my grandma desta was so i can’t get the stains out.

i decided to make a table cloth..we will see how long it stays clean.

this was a really fun project for me because i got to use some of the screen printing skills i had learned from last summers “fashion design” class i taught for elementary girls.

i had seen this table a couple of years ago that was a chalkboard and they had outlined a mat and silverware. it looked neat.

i took that idea but with my spin to it.

i made an extra large stamp of a placemat and then stencils of silverware.

the tough part was recreating each table setting to look the same.

….this was a project of patience.

i really think i can only use this table cloth when their are four people at the table…if their were five people then how do you think the person without their own stenciled table setting would feel?

left out!

and i don’t want to do that to them, especially because if i am having them over for dinner they are probably a friend of mine.

west coasters.

if i lived in new york i would have titled this blog post east coasters.

my friend keri taught me how to do this one.

my favorite crafts are the ones where they don’t cost much.

and also when they are easy.

the best part is you are buying reclaimed tiles to use. i bought 12 for $2

the worst part is you have to cut PERFECT squares of paper to mode podge on the tiles.

…. if you were a detective you would gather that  i am a cheap crafter that is not a perfectionist.

but i did have my friend keri help me with that part, she is the best “perfect square cutter” i have ever met.

when you are done glueing the pretty paper on top of the tiles you will glue a smaller felt square piece on the bottom so it doesn’t scratch up your table.

wouldn’t that be counter productive?….to have coasters on your table so you don’t get water rings but then the coasters scratch up your table.

no thank you.

R.I.P computer cord.

you know when i title a blog post with “R.I.P” you know it has to do with our kitten rufus.

fun fact: kittens have really sharp teeth and love cords of all types.

thats a bad combo.

our computer cord does not work anymore, so we had to purchase a new one.  avery wanted this new cord to be protected at all times.

that is when he decided to commission me to make something that will wrap around the cord. (commission is just a fancy word that means this project was coming out of avery’s allowance and not mine)

i accepted the commission because i too have had enough of rufus’s shenanigans.

if you ever want to upset avery(my husband) you should either bite his computer cord or scratch his leather couches.

if you ever want to upset me you should either break my ornaments or jump on my curtains and rip them off the wall.

the idea of making this “cord cozy” seemed very simple but for some reason it took twice as long as i ever wanted it to.

but at the end of the day our cord is protected with the cutest fabric ever…..and there was just a little bit fabric left over that i may or may not  have another project in mind…stay tuned for that.

i would say COmission accomplished.

another fun fact: did you know some computer cords are 6 1/2 feet tall ……thats a really long cord cozy.

rufus hates it.

one of my favorite parts of this craft project was doing the photo shoot with avery. he was a trooper.
